3rd and 4th graders critique the art of visual artist: Jason Brammer
The 3rd and 4th Graders have been learning about the artist Jason Brammer. In this video they learn what an artist studio is, find themes in his work, learn the meaning of Juxtaposition, and discover how his art relates to his geographic surroundings. The kids sum it up in one word, "Wow!" when they see his art studio for the 1st time. Here is a link to the video with some student remarks on his work. Jason Brammer: Chicago Artist
Student Responses:
How does his art relate to the place he lives?
" The art he makes answers questions. Outside some things he sees he thinks.... you know I could make rust."- Heaven, 4th Grade
"He makes art out of stuff that he finds around his city. He would use an airbrush to make fake rust."
-Deniyah, 4th grade
"When he sees something interesting on his way to work he will go in his studio and paint it."
- Sophia, 3rd grade
"He recreates steel and paints rust on it."- Miles, 3rd grade
"It relates to where he lives because in the alley he walks through, there is this amazing stuff that inspires him and the buildings. Also, the L-Train and decayed things."- Riley, 4th grade
Do you like his art? Why or Why not?
"Yes, I like his art because it looks real."- Devaon, 3rd grade
"I like it because it is creative and has details"- Jillian, 3rd grade
"Yes, I love his art because it makes me think" - Samantha, 3rd grade
"I like his art because it reminds me of my imagination"- Seth, 3rd grade
